Promote the photonics industry
Photonics France promotes the photonics industry among its stakeholders in order to raise awareness of, advocate for, and support all players in the sector.
A roadmap for the photonics industry
Photonics must be understood, recognised and supported for its strengths and capabilities, particularly in France, where the excellence of its research and industry remains largely unknown, despite the country being a major player on the international stage.
The French Photonics Roadmap has two objectives: firstly, an internal one, by fostering dialogue within the sector; and secondly, an external one, by raising our profile and gaining greater recognition from public authorities, application providers and other technology sectors.
In France
Photonics France meets regularly with the relevant government departments responsible for the sector: Industry, Economy, Employment, National Education, Higher Education and Research.
The federation is working towards the creation of a Strategic Sector Committee (CSF) for photonics that can ensure it enjoys unquestionable political and regulatory visibility.
Photonics France works with all public decision-makers: parliamentarians, directorates-general, state-owned operators, as well as other professional federations. It works to improve legislation and encourage investment in the photonics sector.
Photonics France also promotes initial and continuing training to meet the recruitment needs of photonics companies. It is behind the creation of the vocational baccalaureate in photonics and the reform of the BTS (Higher Technical Certificate) that complements it.
In Europe
Photonics France represents its members in Europe through its partner Photonics21, which advocates on behalf of the sector within European institutions.
Photonics21’s lobbying activities help to shape regulations on key technologies and to organise calls for proposals for the benefit of photonics companies.
Reaching out to the general public
In addition to its work with decision-makers, Photonics France reaches out to a wide audience to raise awareness of photonics, the careers within the sector and the training opportunities available.
The federation helps to raise the sector’s profile through public engagement with the media and major events promoting science and industry.
