News ENTREPRISES & INDUSTRIECEDRAT TECHNOLOGIES : Cedrat Technologies at the heart of the LISA project, the future flagship mission for gravitational wave observation
We’re proud to share a major milestone for CEDRAT TECHNOLOGIES (CTEC) in the field of space optical communications. Our magnetically actuated M-FSM45-HPL Fast Steering Mirror has been selected by Thales Alenia Space as part of the SOLiS (“Service Optique de Liaisons spatiales Sécurisées”) project, a demonstrator backed by the French Space Agency (CNES) under the France 2030 strategic plan.
The SOLiS initiative is focused on proving both the technical feasibility and economic viability of secure, high-throughput laser communications from geostationary satellites to ground stations. As part of this effort, the SOLiS optical communication terminal will integrate key precision components, including a Point Ahead Mechanism (PAM) and our Fast Steering Mirror (FSM) technology (both supplied by CTEC).
What makes the M-FSM45-HPL special?
It’s a magnetically driven FSM designed for high-precision satellite-to-ground pointing.
Offers an optical deflection angle greater than 10°, crucial for accurate tracking and beam steering.
Equipped with Eddy Current Sensors (ECS) for exceptional motion control.
Its high-performance mirror can handle and steer laser beams with power levels above 80 W, making it suitable for demanding optical feeder-link applications.
This selection not only highlights CTEC’s leadership in advanced optical pointing mechanisms but also reinforces our contribution to next-generation satellite communication technologies — from New Space ventures to national space strategy programs.
